Creating a level floor

If you are laying laminate flooring then you need to start with a flat base. Flat really means flat, and dips and bumps of just a few milimetres can really cause problems later on.

The good news is that self levelling compound is an easy DIY product that gives you perfectly flat floors.

Simply pour mixed compound onto a bumpy concrete floor and smooth with a large trowel or a plasterer's float. Splash or ideally spray with a bit of water to ensure a glass like surface.

The compound dries in a matter of hours leaving you a flat surface upon which to lay a new laminate floor.
